Duties and Responsibilities
The jobholders of the detailed position will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
- Conduct nursery operations planning, maintenance & development;
- Lead management of people and maintain high levels of performance;
- Manage the coordination of curation of living collections;
- Promote & participate in horticultural and plant conservation research; and
- Conduct planning, coordination and implementation of nursery operations.
Qualifications and Requirements for SANBI Recruitment 2024
The following are the qualifications and requirements needed for SANBI recruitment 2024:
- Candidates must possess an advanced diploma or degree in Horticulture or equivalent qualification with NQF 7.
- Candidates with a postgraduate qualification or equivalent qualification at NQF 8 have an added advantage.
- Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of work experience in relevant field post completion of relevant qualification or 4 years of work experience in the relevant field prior to completion of relevant qualification.
- Candidates must possess the following competencies: excellent knowledge and understanding of indigenous horticulture and conservation are essential; knowledge of propagation procedures and processes
- Candidates must possess practical experience and knowledge of nursery operations and the maintenance of nursery facilities and plant houses; competent in long term maintenance of living plant collections
- Candidates must have an understanding and coordination of procurement processes related to acquiring goods and services to support maintenance of living collections and horticulturists; advance knowledge and understanding of frameworks related to horticultural and conservation services is essential
- Candidates must be advanced in planning, organizing, and possess problem solving skills; ability to work under pressure whilst being cost and safety conscious; excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Candidates must be an excellent computer literate and experienced software application users in tools including (Ms Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and Outlook) will be advantageous.
- Candidates must possess of a valid driver’s licence with at least one-year practical driving experience
